Better than the computer/console version!
A turn-based strategy game where you guide the heroes (or villains) through a storyline by engaging in multiple battles. It features an optional permadeath mode for those who enjoy a challenge. Characters learn new abilities as they gain more experience. The graphics of this game are truly stunning, and the music complements the gameplay perfectly! This game is one of the few where I prefer the GBA version over that of the computer/consoles! Definitely a must-have!

The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age also offers a hotseat mode, allowing you to play with a single GBA with your friends!

Great game in almost every aspect
In 2004, The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age was released for the Gameboy Advance. It is a turn-based strategy game.

At the start of the single player, you choose a hero. For the 'good guys' you can choose from: Aragorn, Gandalf, and Elrond. For the 'bad guys' you can choose from: Saruman, the Witch king, and the Mouth of Sauron. Once you have chosen a hero, you cannot change it (unless you start the campaign over).

After choosing the hero, the campaign begins, and you follow the events of the movies (from the perspective of the 'good guys' or 'bad guys').
In these battles, you can also deploy other heroes as helpers. Some of these heroes include Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Lurtz, Gorbag, and Ugluk.
After each battle, you can upgrade your heroes.

Once you have completed the story with a certain hero, you can also unlock extra fighting locations.

The game also features a multiplayer mode, allowing you to play against someone who also has the game via a cable link, or share the Gameboy Advance with someone next to you after each move in the game.

Pros: Many heroes, beautiful graphics (for a Gameboy Advance game), reasonably long gameplay (about 20 hours), unlockable extra levels, controls, sound/soundtrack.

Cons: Sometimes the game is unfair and almost impossible to win (especially towards the end), playing for long stretches becomes boring quickly (in my opinion), apart from reliving the movie battles, not much is done with the story.
Hide.
